We're hiring! Freelance Trusts & Grants Fundraiser

As we enter a new and exciting phase of our work, we’re looking for an experienced freelance Trusts and Grants Fundraiser to join our team. We're on the hunt for someone who feels genuinely drawn to the positive change that we’re trying to create, and the values-led way that we approach our work.

We are developing this role as a focused freelance fundraising commission. As an indicative starting point, we have identified an initial six-month budget of approximately £7,000, likely around 1-1.5 days per week over 6 months from September, depending on day rate and approach. We are open to proposals to find the best structure, time commitment and way of working for us and the right person.

The main focus will be trusts and grants fundraising, with some support for community fundraising development where appropriate.

We are looking for someone with strong experience in environmental, community, outdoor, nature connection, wellbeing or systems-change fundraising - ideally with direct experience of working with small, innovative, community-powered NGOs.

Why is this an exciting time to join us?

We now have a new Fundraising & Resourcing Strategy for 2026 - 2031, a clearer Theory of Change, growing evidence of our impact, fundable project ideas, content and case-study material, and existing trusts and grants prospect lists.

We are also beginning to develop our next organisational strategy, with 2031 emerging as a key milestone for TFT.

The right person would help us turn this strategic work into focused fundraising activity and bring specialist fundraising insight into the next phase of our planning.

We’d be especially interested in someone who can show how they have approached similar challenges before, then apply that experience to TFT’s specific context.

The ideal person would be able to say:

“Here is what I think is possible. Here is how I would approach it. Here is what I need from you. Here are the likely targets and milestones”.

Just as importantly, we’re looking for someone who feels genuinely drawn to what TFT is trying to do: reducing single-use pollution on trails while strengthening connection, care, community, citizen science and visible stewardship.

If they also love to ride, run or roam on trails and wild places, even better.
