Introducing the Purposeful Adventure Fund

For us, we know adventure is vital to our wellbeing, and that of our communities. But many across the UK face numerous barriers to experiencing our wild places - from transport to kit, the cost of adventures is significant.

We're taking donations to enable more people to go on adventures, focusing on those from Hardly Reached communities and systemically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Help us enable more people to access adventure and experience the power of environmental stewardship.

What Does Your Donation Go?

By donating, you support our work with TFT Community Hubs, outdoor charities and adventure centres to deliver life-changing Purposeful Adventures for individuals who may be experiencing disconnection from nature due to systemic social or financial barriers, or could be considered Hardly Reached by other similar offerings.

With the UK ranking the lowest in Europe for levels of nature connectedness, (Ambio, 2022) we need to address the widening gap of access to the outdoors, ensuring everyone is welcomed, always.

Donations from the Fund go directly into covering the upfront costs of adventures - transport, accommodation, kit, clothing, and fees for guides, coaches and mountain leaders.

A portion of the Fund will also be used to support vocational development of the organisations and groups who are working directly with their communities to deliver trail cleans and Purposeful Adventures.

Case Study:

Adventure Tours UK & EYST

For Adventure Tours UK founder Claire, it was a no-brainer to host trail cleans work alongside Ethnic Minorities Youth Support Team (EYST), helping to bring families and young people from Wrexham to the trails in North Wales.

This was more than just trail cleaning. For many of those from EYST it was the first time they’d set foot into the Welsh hills, despite being a stone's throw from their homes.

Through this collaboration, powered by the Purposeful Adventure Fund, AT have worked with nearly 100 people since 2024.

“Yes, we’re cleaning trails, improving the quality of our environment and contributing to TFT's data collection through the SoOT Research Programme. But we’re also nurturing personal growth and community connection in the next generation.”
