Spend a Minute with Nature on the Summer Solstice
Our wild places need us more than ever before, but we're living in a crisis of disconnection. This is powering a resistance to the urgent need for more action to protect nature.
We must change the way we think and talk about the UK’s nature crisis - but how do we do this when so many of us lack the time to volunteer, take part or give back?
We believe taking action needs to only take a moment - or a minute in fact.
Introducing a Minute’s Silence with Nature; a chance to connect with a place you love and mark what it means to you - by only spending a minute of your time.
First 50 pledges will receive a special thank you gift!

How to do a Minute's Silence with Nature
Our community will be pausing for one minute of silence in places we love across the UK at 9:24am on Sunday June 21st - and we want you to join in!
Follow these simple steps to take part. If you hit pledge we’ll send you all this information, alongside some inspiration and tips from our community.
STEP 1

Head to a place you love
on Sunday June 21st.
Choose your favourite activity - a ride, run or roam. And make sure you're there for 9ish!
STEP 2

At 9:24am pause for a minute’s silence.
You might want to close your eyes, or simply sit on a bench and observe for 60 seconds
STEP 3

You did it!
Take some time to reflect on what you thought and felt during your minute of silence. Maybe take a photo if you fancy.
BONUS STEP!

Feeling inspired to do more than a minute?
Follow your minute’s silence with a short trail clean, giving back to the place you love.

'I feel that because I spend so much time in nature and it gives me benefits, I want to give back … to leave everywhere in a better state so we can all have trash free trails like these ones!'

Why are we doing this?
86% of adults in the UK say protecting the environment is important - but environmental action and political will is decreasing. (IPSOS) With that, levels of nature connectedness remain some of the lowest in the world in the UK, and most feel too busy to spend time outdoors.
While the pressures of this time are mounting, we need nature - to pause, to escape, to reset - yet barriers to access remain high. One of the most significant is a lack of time.
Without spending time in nature, we’re not able to build a relationship with it - one that we'll go on
to protect.
But how do you make connecting to nature simpler, while also ensuring it’s still meaningful?
By pausing for a Minute’s Silence with Nature, you're connecting with a place you love. Rather than passing through, rushing without noticing, this is a pause for 60 seconds with your favourite place.
What do you notice? What do you feel? Why does this place matter?
By encouraging our community to do this together at the same time we want to showcase just how much the public do care about nature, and want to see more efforts made to protect it.
Why 9:24am on June 21st?
On June 21st last year, we were fortunate enough to be gathered with many of our A-TEAMers in the Scottish Highlands.
On the morning of the 21st, a brave few crept out in the dark, climbed the hill, and watched the sunrise. They watched the sun ascend to the peak of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, then brewed a coffee for good measure.
June 21st is the Summer Solstice, an astronomical moment that has been celebrated by human beings for milennia. In the UK we have no national holiday or moment to mark our wild places - we think the Solstice could be a good one.
If Sunday June 21st doesn't work for you - don't worry! You can still pledge to do your Minute's Silence whenever is best for you.
