About the event
Summer Trail Clean
Hope Valley Climate Action, a community led charity has recently become a TFT Community Hub in the Peak District!
We’re heading out for a roam in Castleton in the Hope Valley with our litter pickers at hand. Grab your family, friends, and come on down for a morning stroll (but with a purpose!).
Start time: 10am - allows you to reach the walk by local buses - no. 272 and 62.
Where we’ll go: Starting at Castleton Visitor Centre we'll begin a relaxed 2.2 miles walk over the fields towards the old broken road, enjoying scenic views of Mam Tor then coming back along Old Mam Tor road, finishing back at the visitor centre where toilets and refreshments are available.
The route should take around 1 hour 45 minutes including a couple of stops along the way. As well as enjoying the outdoors we’ll be removing as much litter as possible along the trail, then later we’ll count it all up and submit our findings to the Trash Free Trails Report!
Everyone will be provided with a litter picker and a bag but please bring a pair of gloves – see below on what else to bring.
What to bring:
Gloves you don’t mind getting dirty (to pick up litter)
Suitable footwear with grip
A bottle of water to stay hydrated
Layers and something waterproof
How to reach the start:
You can use public transport to get to and from the start of the walk at Castleton visitor centre.
If travelling from Hathersage direction the 272 bus arrives at 09:29
If travelling from Edale direction the 62 bus arrives at 09:18
There is also bike parking and car parking available at the visitor centre, along with toilets.
See you there? Sign up to let us know you're coming!
